Sapphire       
          
        Sought after throughout the
        ages, Sapphire is the blue variety of the mineral corundum. 
        Historically, it has been
        called the "celestial" symbol of the heavens, guardian of
        innocence and bestower of truth the good health. While being prized for
        its deep blue color, it comes in almost every color and in red it’s
        called a Ruby. 
        As ruby its sister stone the
        sapphire is prized for it hardness and durability as a gemstone. With a
        Moh’s hardness of (9) only second to the hardest gem the Diamond at
        Moh’s (10) it makes an excellent choice for the finest everyday
        jewelry. 
        Blue Sapphire is among the most
        sought after members of the sapphire family- especially the gems from
        Burma and Kashmir, which are the closest to pure blue in color.
